Is there a possibility to set the background color of a single cell (e.g. <td style="backgroundcolor:blue;"></td>) in an HTML datatable?

Adding a background colour to a cell in an HTML table is currently not possible.
We do however have this on our backlog as a possible new feature.
Do you have a specific use-case in mind for which you’d need background colours?
