Freezing values in Silverfin

Is it currently possible to freeze specific values in Silverfin?

Once we send a draft set of financial statements to the client, we would like the balance sheet total and the result of the financial year as at that moment to be automatically stored in two separate fields. At present, we solve this by manually entering these amounts into two input fields.

When we later want to finalise and send the financial statements, this allows us to verify whether the figures have changed unintentionally in the meantime, for example as a result of a sync with the bookkeeping system.

We have noticed that another firm raised a similar question in the past. At that time, freezing values within Silverfin was not yet possible.

Hi @MDomburg

No, this is currently not possible within Silverfin.

The approach you are using today, manually storing these values in input fields, is indeed the correct and recommended way to keep track of them and verify any unintended changes later on.

An alternative could be to leverage the Silverfin API. Through the API, you can retrieve specific data (such as the balance sheet total or the result of the financial year) and store it in text properties (input fields) within Silverfin. This would allow you to partially automate your current process.

However, this would require a custom-built solution on your side. You can find more information about the Silverfin API in the official documentation.

Hi Delphine,

Thank you for your answer and for the confirmation. We will think about the Silverfin API.

Kind regards,
